Ecole William MacDonald School is entering teams in the Hay River Elk’s 2013 NWT School Outdoor Soccer Championships.
The tournament is on September 20th to 22nd, 2013 (Friday to Sunday) in Hay River.
These championships are for Grades 4 to 12. EWMS is entering both a boys team and a girls team to play in the Grade 6/7 division. The teams will be coached by Joe Acorn.
Practices for both the boys and girls will be jointly held on Wednesday September 11th and Wednesday September 18th at St. Joe’s soccer field from 6:15 to 7:45.
We are looking for 12-14 boys and 10-12 girls in Grades 6 and 7 to make up the teams. If more than 14 boys or 12 girls want to participate then the teams will be selected by the coach from among the interested players. The 1st practice will be a tryout and a list will be posted at the school of the players who are selected and should attend the 2nd practice on Sept. 18th.
For the players on the team, there will be a fee of $10 per player to cover the school’s registration fee.
Arranging travel and accommodations for the players, and the care and supervision of your child at the tournament, is the responsibility of the parents.
If parents will be driving or staying with kids who are not their own, then they will need to submit driver’s abstracts and criminal records checks to the school. This applies even if the other child has a parent who is also travelling with them. Parents should apply to get these documents as soon as possible. There is time to get them but not a lot of time to spare.
Staying in one of the Hay River schools was an option last year and likely will be again this year for anyone interested. For those staying in the school last year, a meal plan was available for $25.00/player. This covered Friday supper, three meals on Saturday and Sunday breakfast. It is likely to be similar this year. More information is available on this option if requested.
Joe Acorn can be contacted at 766-2455, 445-5059 or email@example.com. Parents should contact him to confirm the kids who want to play.
